Which battery and inverter brands work with Axle?
Good news first: with Axle, it's your inverter that needs to be compatible, not your battery. As long as your inverter is made by one of the manufacturers we support, your home battery can join Axle, whatever brand the battery itself is.
The inverters we support
We currently work with inverters from these manufacturers:
GivEnergy
SigEnergy
Fox ESS
SolaX
Solis
SolarEdge
If your inverter is made by one of these, you're good to go.
What about my battery?
Your battery brand doesn't matter. If your inverter is on the list above, your battery will work with Axle.
If you're not sure which inverter your battery is paired with, it's often printed on the unit itself, or your installer will be able to tell you.
Can I control my battery myself instead?
A compatible inverter is essential, and there's no way around this. Even if you already manage your home battery yourself, for example through Home Assistant, Predbat or your own API setup, you'll still need an inverter from one of our supported manufacturers to sign up. Axle connects to your system through the inverter, so we aren't able to take part through custom automations or controls instead, however cleverly they're set up.
Inverters we don't support yet
We're not able to support every brand to participate in the Axle VPP just yet. If your inverter is made by one of the following, it won't work with Axle for now:
Tesla (including the Powerwall and Powerwall 3), Enphase (IQ Battery), Sonnen, Sunsynk, Myenergi (Libbi), Powervault, Alpha ESS, EcoFlow (PowerOcean), Hanchu, Huawei (including LUNA), Growatt, Duracell, Puredrive, Sofar, GoodWe, Sungrow and Victron.
We're always working to add support for more brands, so it's worth checking back in the future.
