Your MPAN and what we need it for
Your MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) is the unique number that identifies your electricity meter point. You’ll find it on your electricity bill, sometimes labelled as your supply number or electricity meter point. It’s how your battery is registered on the energy markets.
A few things worth knowing:
We need your import MPAN. This is the one for the electricity you draw from the grid, not your export MPAN. We take the import MPAN from your bill and use it to set you up with Axle, pulling details of your export MPAN from the import MPAN provided. The reason for this is that everyone has an import MPAN, but not everyone has an export MPAN.
Each Axle account can only connect to one MPAN, one physical address, and one inverter. Multiple batteries running from a single master inverter can sit under one account. If you have separate inverters at the same address with no master inverter, we can only support one. To register more than one MPAN (as long as the MPAN is at a different address than your existing account), you need to set up a separate account for each, using a different email address per account.
We can’t change the MPAN on an existing account. Your account is registered on the markets under its MPAN, so if yours ever changes, you’ll need to set up a new Axle account rather than editing the old one.
