What is a grid event?

A grid event is a short window, usually one hour, when the electricity grid is under stress and needs extra support. During that window we schedule your battery to export stored energy to the grid, and you earn for every unit it sends.

Here’s how an event unfolds:

• The day before: We email you to let you know an event is coming.

• During the event: We automatically trigger the export from your battery, so there’s nothing you need to do.

• After the event: Within a few days, we credit your account for what you exported. Gathering the data from your meter can take a little time, so there’s often a short delay before it appears.

We aim to run roughly three to six events a month, with more in winter. Sometimes these are regional, and sometimes they are national. There’s no fixed schedule as it all depends on what the grid needs, but we’ll always give you a day’s notice by email, and you can see upcoming events on your Axle account page under the ‘events’ tab.
